Galatians 6:3
This devotional is written by Bruce and Stan
Forgive me for the delay on this, my daughter is in Girl Scout camp, and I’ve been volunteering, as well. The first night, I was beat. Tuesday I was so sick with allergies that while I did start it, I couldn’t finish it. So Here is Monday’s blog on Wednesday. So sorry.
Part One:
Our authors say that true compassion means seeing other people the way that God see them. That it requires looking onto the heart of other people. It doesn’t matter if that person is someone you know or not.
The thing about compassion, is really the intent of the heart. You can give a person money, and that person may desperately need that money. But if you do it to make yourself look good, or because you think you have to, or any other negative attitude of why, then it’s really not an act of compassion is it? I say no. The generosity, compassion, love, empathy, and all other characteristics like this have to come from a willing, thankful, loving heart.
Part Two:
Let your primary motivation be the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit.
No one does the right thing naturally. It takes effort and practice.
I wanted to share these two points because I wanted to remind myself and others that it takes practice to listen to the Holy Spirit and time to learn how to do it. It isn’t something that immediately is instilled in you once you ask for Jesus to come into your heart.
Reading Challenge:
Well, I haven’t read the bible. However, I have read Sun Stand Still. It’s a book about having audacious faith. I read two chapters of that. So while it’s not been of God’s Holy Word, reading has happened.
