Today’s devotional is written by Hannah Whitall Smith, The God of All Comforts.

The devotional today speaks to the BIBLE its self. My dad has this saying, I’m sure it’s well-known, he had to have heard it somewhere–Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. The BIBLE. The thing about his little statement and the point made in the devotional is that the BIBLE is our handbook for living for Christ. Its our map. Our statements of fact. It’s the way of us knowing what we are doing is write or wrong.

I know the BIBLE gets a lot of slack. There are different versions. Different ways that people interrupt it. But the simple truth is the BIBLE is God’s Holy word. We are to trust it. Read it then PRAY. I think the prayer part is the important part. Man can corrupt. This is a basic fact. One person can read John 11:35 “Jesus wept” and take it as he cried, another can say he was so emotional. Then another can be Jesus had emotions and we are to be like him, having emotions is normal and expect. One could even say Jesus was drama queen. Man can take the world many ways. So the pray part is so that you can see the word and then digest it with God’s help, so that you don’t follow the corrupt belief. That you seek him when you are studying so that you know you are following the right path.

The BIBLE has been around for hundred of years, and while the shall have become will and other things, it’s still God’s word. It was still written by him. It’s still our road map. It’s the way we know we are living for him, by HIS example. “All scripture is inspired by God.” That comes from the scripture of today’s devotional. We need to remember to open up his book and see what good things he has for us.
